Pointe Art In A Frame
Terms & Conditions
Custom Framed Pointe Shoe Artwork
Last updated: July 2026
Thank you for choosing Pointe Art In A Frame. Each piece I create is a unique, handcrafted work of art made with care and attention to detail. Please read these Terms & Conditions carefully before placing your order. By proceeding with a booking, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to the terms set out below:
1. The Commission Process
Every piece is made entirely to your specifications. Once we have discussed your vision, I will send you a written design brief along with a quote by email. Work will only commence once you have confirmed the design brief in writing by email and the deposit has been received. Your order is confirmed only once both of these have taken place.
2. Payment
2.1 Deposit
A non-refundable deposit of 30% of the total quoted price is required to secure your order and begin work. Work will not commence until the deposit has cleared.
2.2 Balance
The remaining balance is due in full upon completion of the artwork, before the piece is handed over or dispatched. The final balance is due within 7 days of notification that the artwork is complete. The artwork will not be released, collected, or dispatched until payment has been received in full.
If the balance remains unpaid 30 days after notification of completion, a reasonable storage charge may apply to cover the safekeeping of your artwork until payment and collection or dispatch are arranged.
2.3 Payment Methods
Payment is accepted by bank transfer or PayPal. Details will be included on your invoice. Please use your order number as the payment reference.
3. Your Pointe Shoes
You are responsible for supplying the pointe shoes to be used in your commissioned artwork. Please note the following:
● The shoes will be built permanently onto the frame and will remain as part of the finished artwork. They cannot be removed or returned once work has begun. By handing over your shoes, you fully accept this.
● As part of the artistic process, your shoes may be fully or partially painted. This is a central part of the craft and helps bring the design to life. Please be aware of this before submitting your shoes.
● Whilst every reasonable care will be taken, Pointe Art In A Frame is not responsible for any deterioration, marking, or damage resulting from the pre-existing age, wear, or condition of the shoes supplied.
● Pointe Art In A Frame does not accept liability for sentimental items sent via post. If you are posting your shoes to me, please use a tracked and insured postal service.
● Any shoes received will be treated with the utmost care and respect.
4. Design & Your Vision
When placing your order, you have two options:
● Choose one of my existing designs as your starting point, or
● Share your own theme or idea, and I will interpret it creatively into a unique piece of framed art.
Please share as much detail as you can about your theme, colour preferences, or any inspiration you have in mind. The more I know, the better I can bring your vision to life. However, please be aware that each piece is an original work of art, I will use my creativity and skill to interpret your ideas, and the finished result will reflect my artistic style.
Every commission is an original artwork created in my individual artistic style. Whilst every effort will be made to reflect the agreed design brief, exact replication of previous works, photographs, colours, or expectations cannot be guaranteed. By commissioning a piece, you acknowledge that artistic interpretation forms an essential part of the finished artwork.
Because each piece is built directly onto the frame, with the shoes becoming a permanent part of the construction, it is not possible to make changes once work has begun. I will keep you updated with progress throughout the process, and you are welcome to share any thoughts along the way. However, please be aware that structural changes cannot be made mid-commission. By placing your order and confirming the design brief, you accept that the finished artwork will be my creative interpretation of the agreed theme.
Please ensure all requirements and preferences are communicated clearly at the time of order, as changes after work has started may not be possible and could incur an additional charge.
5. Changes & Cancellations
5.1 Changes to Your Order
Because every piece is entirely bespoke and built directly onto the frame, no changes can be made once work has begun. It is therefore essential that all design details, themes, preferences, and requirements are agreed and confirmed in writing before your order is placed. Please take the time to communicate everything clearly at the outset, I am always happy to discuss ideas before committing to a design brief.
5.2 Cancellations Before Work Has Begun
If you wish to cancel before work has started, please notify me in writing by email as soon as possible. In this case, your deposit will be refunded in full, as long as materials have not yet been committed to your project.
5.3 Cancellations After Work Has Begun
If you cancel after work has started, the deposit will be retained to cover the time and materials already invested. Your pointe shoes may be returned to you in whatever state they are in at the point of cancellation, including any paint, glue, or decorative elements already applied, if you wish to have them back. Please note that once work has begun, the shoes will have been altered as part of the artistic process.
Please be aware that worn pointe shoes are generally no longer suitable for dancing once they reach the end of their life, and any modifications made during the creative process are part of that understanding.
5.4 Cancellations After Completion or Non-Payment
If a piece has been completed and the client chooses not to proceed, or if the remaining balance remains unpaid, I will make reasonable attempts to contact you to arrange payment and collection or dispatch. If the artwork remains unpaid 40 days after notification of completion, and reasonable attempts to make contact have been unsuccessful, Pointe Art In A Frame reserves the right to sell or otherwise dispose of the artwork in order to recover the costs of materials and time invested. The deposit paid will not be refunded.
All cancellation requests must be made in writing by email.
6. Refunds
Due to the entirely bespoke and custom-made nature of each piece, I am generally unable to offer refunds once work has commenced.
7. Delivery & Collection
7.1 Collection
Where possible, orders may be collected in person at an agreed location. Details will be confirmed at the time of order.
7.2 Postage & Packaging
If postage is required, the cost will be calculated and quoted separately once the design and materials are confirmed, as the weight and size of the finished piece varies per order. Postage will be added to your final invoice.
I take great care in packaging every piece to ensure it arrives safely. However, once the artwork has been handed to a postal carrier, Pointe Art In A Frame cannot be held responsible for any damage or loss in transit. I strongly recommend requesting proof of postage and, where available, insured delivery.
7.3 Delivery Times
An estimated completion timeframe will be provided at the time of your order. As each piece is entirely bespoke, with the frame, materials, and design varying per commission — completion typically takes more than one week, though the exact time will depend on the complexity of your design. I will always keep you informed of progress and any changes to your estimated completion date.
7.4 Risk
Risk in the artwork passes to you upon collection in person, or upon delivery of the artwork to the postal carrier for dispatch.
8. Intellectual Property & Photography
All artwork, designs, photographs, and creative concepts produced by Pointe Art In A Frame remain the intellectual property of the artist.
By agreeing to these Terms & Conditions, you give Pointe Art In A Frame permission to photograph the finished artwork and use those images for portfolio and promotional purposes, including but not limited to social media, marketing materials, and displays at events.
If you do not wish your piece to be photographed or featured in any promotional context, please notify me in writing by email at the time of placing your order. I will always respect this request. Please note that if no objection is raised at the time of order, consent is assumed.
Please note that colours shown in photographs, or as viewed on a computer or mobile screen, may differ slightly from the finished artwork due to variations in lighting, photography, and display settings.
9. Aftercare & Repairs
I take great care to ensure every element of your artwork is securely fixed and finished to the highest standard. However, as pieces are handcrafted using adhesives and mixed materials, the following applies:
9.1 Workmanship Guarantee
If any element of your piece comes loose or detaches within 3 months of delivery or collection, and this is due to a fault in the making, I will repair it free of charge. Please contact me by email as soon as you notice an issue. This guarantee covers workmanship only, and does not cover normal wear and tear, accidental damage, or damage caused by environmental conditions.
Please note that this guarantee does not apply where damage or detachment has been caused by exposure to heat, direct sunlight, humidity, or unsuitable display conditions. As adhesives can be affected by temperature, it is important to display your artwork away from radiators, fireplaces, sunny windowsills, or other heat sources.
9.2 Accidental Damage
If your piece is accidentally damaged after the 3 month period, or as a result of handling or display, I am happy to assess and restore it where possible. Any restoration work will be carried out at an additional cost, which will be agreed with you before any work begins.
10. Limitation of Liability
Pointe Art In A Frame shall not be liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your order. My total liability to you shall not exceed the total price paid for your commission.
Pointe Art In A Frame shall not be liable for delays caused by events beyond reasonable control, including illness, postal disruption, supplier delays, fire, flood, or other unforeseen circumstances.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions affects your statutory rights under UK consumer law, which cannot be excluded.
I reserve the right to update or amend these Terms & Conditions at any time.
11. Cookies

13. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions shall be governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
14. Contact
